What is Google Workspace(formerly G Suite) Drive?

Google Drive and Documents

Google Drive and Documents can upload, edit, share, and prepare files on line.

This supports a total of more than 15 file formats including Google Document file formats, Texts (word processing software), Spreadsheets, Presentations (presentation software), and Microsoft Word (DOC, DOCX), Microsoft Excel (XLS, XLSX), Microsoft PowerPoint (.PPT, .PPTX), and Adobe Portable Document Format(PDF).
Image files supported are the jpeg, png, .gif. .tiff, .bmp formats, and video files supported are MPEG4, 3GPP, MOV, AVI etc.

You can access Google Drive by logging in from http://drive.google.com/a/keio.jp/.

Google Drive’s Capacity

Regarding the saving capacity of Google Drive, the capacity can be used without limitation. Even when Google Drive saves many files or folders, the use of the saving capacity is limited to synchronized items and uploaded items. Google documents format (Document, Spreadsheet, Presentation) are not counted in the capacity.


Items counted in the capacity

  1. Gmail: All messages in emails and attached files (including items in "Spam" and in "Trash".)
  2. Drive: Files saved in Drive (PDF, images, videos, etc.) Items made using Google document, a spread sheet or slides are not counted in saving capacity.
  3. Google+ photo: Only photos exceeding 2048x2048 pixels and video longer than 15 minutes are counted in saving capacity.

Items not counted in capacity

  1. Google documents, spread sheets, slides, presentations, drawings, etc.
  2. Files another user shares with you


Size limitation on Google Document Format

  1. Document
  2. Spreadsheet
  3. Presentations

Document

1,024,000 characters. Number of pages or font size are not relevant. Using a new version of Drive, (has a red "New" button on the left panel), the maximum size of a document file that can be uploaded and then converted to Google Document format is 50 MB.

Spreadsheet

400,000 cells, up to 256 columns per sheet The maximum size of a Spreadsheet file that can be uploaded and converted to the Google Spreadsheet format is 100MB. It must be 400,000 cells or less and 256 columns or less per sheet.


As the limitation on the size nears, a message that shows which limit it is nearing is displayed at the top of the Spreadsheet.

  1. Number of cells: Total 400,000 cells in all sheets
  2. Number of columns: 256 columns per sheet
  3. Number of formulas: Cells containing formulas is 40,000 cells
  4. Number of tabs: 200 sheets per book
  5. GoogleFinance formulas: GoogleFinance formulas: 1,000
  6. ImportRange formulas: Cross reference formulas between workbooks: 50
  7. ImportData, ImportHtml, ImportFeed, ImportXml formulas: Function for external data: 50

Presentations

For Presentations that can be prepared with Google Document, the is a maximum of 100MB. The maximum size of a Presentation file that can be uploaded and converted to the Google Presentation format is 50 MB.
