POP setup example for Android OS

Introduction

The contents shown here have been confirmed to operate under the following environment.
Device: ARROWS 202F
OS: Android(ver.4.2.2)
Software: Mail (standard email app)
Carry out all the following procedures.
Perform Procedure 2 as well if you intend to use the Keio Apps ID in your email address.

Procedure 1: Setting up in the new system (Gmail)

  1. Log into the Keio Mail(Gmail), and then click the gear icon in the top right corner.
  2. Click "Settings"
  3. Click "Forwarding and POP/IMAP".
  4. Click "Enable POP for all mail" in "POP Download" or turn on "Enable POP for mail that arrives from now on", then click "Save Changes".

Procedure 2: Setting up in a standard Android email app (e.g. ARROWS 202F)

* As existing settings cannot be changed and used in the standard Android email app, this procedure will set up a new account.

  1. Tap the "Email" icon.
    * The icons or screen displays may vary depending on the device you are using, but the items to set remain the same.
  2. Tap the menu button at the bottom right, then tap "Settings".
    If not even one email account is set up, this step is skipped, and the procedure starts from Step 4.
  3. Tap "Add account" at the top right.
  4. The screen changes to the "Account setup" screen. Fill in the settings while referencing the following information.
    Email Enter your Keio ID.
    Example: keio-taro@a2.keio.jp
    Note: Make sure that you also include the part after the "@" mark.
    * Enter your Keio Apps ID if you intend to use the Keio Apps ID in your sent email address.
    Example (Keio Apps ID): keio-taro@keio.jp
    Password Enter the password for your email software.
    Go here to check your Keio Apps ID and email software password.
    Once you have entered all the fields, tap "Manual setup".
  5. Tap "POP3".
  6. The screen changes to the "Receiving server settings" screen.
    Fill in the settings while referencing the following information.
    Receiving Mail Server Information
    User name Enter "recent:" + "Keio Apps ID".
    Example: recent:keio-taro@keio.jp
    Note: Make sure that you also include the part after the "@" mark.
    Password Enter the password for your email software.
    POP3 server pop.gmail.com
    Port 995
    Security type SSL/TLS
    Delete email from server Optional
    Go here to check your Keio Apps ID and email software password.
    Once you have entered all the fields, tap "Next".
  7. The screen changes to the "Sending server settings" screen.
    Fill in the settings while referencing the following information.

    SMTP server smtp.gmail.com
    Port 465
    Security type SSL/TLS
    User name Enter "Keio Apps ID".
    Example: keio-taro@keio.jp
    Note: Make sure that you also include the part after the "@" mark.
    Password Enter the password for your email software.
    Go here to check your Keio Apps ID and email software password.
    Once you have entered all the fields, tap "Next".
  8. Set up as you like, and tap "Next".
  9. When "The account has been set up" is shown, fill in the following items and tap "Next" to complete setup.
    Perform an email send/receive test. Account Information Entry (Example)
    Give this acccount a name(optional) keio-taro@a2.keio.jp
    Your name(displayed on outgoing messages) Taro Keio
    This completes the steps for "3-7. POP setup example for Android OS"。
